Effective date: May 28, 2026

Summary: AI Speed Cube Trainer does not require registration or collect personal information to use the trainer. We use Google AdSense to display ads, which uses cookies to personalize ads based on your interests. You can opt out of personalized ads at any time. Read the full policy below for details.

1. Who We Are

AI Speed Cube Trainer ("we," "us," or "our") operates the website at aicubetrainer.com. This is an independent, individually-run project providing free browser-based speedcubing recognition training tools. The site is not affiliated with the World Cube Association (WCA) or any cube manufacturer.

For any privacy-related questions, contact us at trevor@aicubetrainer.com.

2. Information We Collect

We collect two types of information: information you provide voluntarily, and information collected automatically.

Information you provide voluntarily:

  • Display name (optional): If you choose to enter a display name for My Score, this name is stored only in your browser's local storage. It is not transmitted to our servers.
  • Email (contact form): If you contact us via email at trevor@aicubetrainer.com, we receive your email address and the content of your message. We use this only to respond to your inquiry and do not add you to any mailing list.

Information collected automatically:

  • IP address (anonymized or truncated by analytics tools)
  • Browser type and version
  • Operating system
  • Referring/exit pages
  • Date and time of visit
  • Pages viewed and time spent on site
  • Device type (desktop, mobile, tablet)

This automatically collected information is used for aggregate site analytics (understanding how many people visit, which pages are most popular, etc.) and is not linked to personally identifiable information.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

  • To operate, maintain, and improve the website and training tools
  • To analyze site traffic and understand how visitors use the site
  • To display relevant advertisements via Google AdSense
  • To respond to your inquiries or feedback if you contact us
  • To detect and prevent technical errors or abusive behavior
  • To comply with legal obligations

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for their marketing purposes.

4. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

Cookies are small text files placed on your device by websites you visit. They are widely used to make websites work more efficiently and to provide analytical and advertising functionality.

Types of cookies used on this site:

  • Essential cookies / local storage: Used for core functionality such as remembering your display name, practice score, favorites, and F2L progress. These stay in your browser and are not transmitted to our servers.
  • Analytics cookies: Used to understand aggregate visitor behavior (e.g., which pages are most visited, how long visitors stay). We may use Cloudflare Web Analytics or similar privacy-focused analytics that do not use cookies or fingerprinting.
  • Advertising cookies: Set by Google AdSense to serve personalized advertisements. Google may use these cookies to show you ads based on your prior visits to this site and other websites on the internet.

You can control cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to refuse cookies, delete cookies, or alert you when cookies are set. Disabling cookies may affect the functionality of some features on this site, including advertising.

To opt out of personalized advertising by Google, visit Google's My Ad Center or the Digital Advertising Alliance opt-out page.

5. Google AdSense and Advertising

This site uses Google AdSense, an advertising service provided by Google LLC. Google AdSense serves ads on our site and uses cookies, web beacons, and similar technologies to collect data about your browsing behavior and interests in order to serve you relevant advertisements.

What Google collects through AdSense:

  • Pages you visit on this site and other sites in the Google Display Network
  • Your approximate location (country/region level)
  • Your device type and browser information
  • Inferred interests based on your browsing history

Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to our site and/or other sites on the internet. Google's privacy practices are governed by Google's Privacy Policy.

Opting out of personalized ads: You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google's My Ad Center. You can also opt out of interest-based advertising from third-party vendors by visiting the Network Advertising Initiative opt-out page.

Even if you opt out of personalized ads, you may still see non-personalized advertisements based on the general content of the pages you visit.

6. Third-Party Services

This site uses the following third-party services that may collect data according to their own privacy policies:

We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these third parties. We encourage you to review their privacy policies.

7. Log Files

Like most websites, our hosting provider (Cloudflare Pages) automatically records certain information in server log files. This information includes IP addresses, browser type, Internet Service Provider (ISP), date/time stamps, referring pages, exit pages, and click counts.

This information is used to analyze trends, administer the site, and identify any technical issues. IP addresses and similar technical data are not linked to any personally identifiable information. Log file data is retained for a limited period consistent with our hosting provider's standard data retention policies.

8. Data Retention

We retain personal data only for as long as necessary for the purposes described in this policy:

  • Contact emails: We retain email correspondence for up to 2 years for support and reference purposes.
  • Practice score data: Your score, display name, favorites, and F2L progress are stored only in your browser (local storage). They are not sent to our servers. Clearing site data in your browser removes them.
  • Log files: Server log data is retained for up to 90 days.
  • Browser local storage: Any data stored locally in your browser (display name, preferences) remains on your device until you clear your browser's local storage or cookies.

9. Children's Privacy (COPPA)

AI Speed Cube Trainer is a general-audience website and is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe that your child under the age of 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us at trevor@aicubetrainer.com so we can delete that information.

For visitors under 18 years of age, we recommend that parents or guardians review this privacy policy and supervise their child's use of the internet. Our advertising partner (Google AdSense) provides options to restrict personalized advertising for users under 18; we encourage families to use those controls.

10. Your Rights: GDPR (EU/EEA Residents)

If you are located in the European Union or European Economic Area, you have the following rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR):

  • Right of access: You have the right to request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Right to rectification: You have the right to request correction of inaccurate or incomplete personal data.
  • Right to erasure ("right to be forgotten"): You can request that we delete your personal data under certain circumstances.
  • Right to restrict processing: You can ask us to restrict how we process your personal data in certain cases.
  • Right to data portability: You have the right to receive your personal data in a structured, commonly used format.
  • Right to object: You can object to our processing of your personal data for direct marketing or on the grounds of your particular situation.
  • Right to withdraw consent: Where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw that consent at any time.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at trevor@aicubetrainer.com. We will respond to your request within 30 days. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority in your EU member state.

Legal basis for processing: Where we process your personal data, we rely on the following legal bases: (a) your consent (e.g., for advertising cookies); (b) our legitimate interest in operating and improving this website; and (c) compliance with legal obligations.

11. Your Rights: CCPA (California Residents)

If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) provides you with specific rights regarding your personal information:

  • Right to know: You have the right to request disclosure of the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you.
  • Right to delete: You have the right to request deletion of personal information we have collected from you, subject to certain exceptions.
  • Right to opt out of sale: We do not sell personal information. However, certain sharing of data with advertising partners (such as Google AdSense) may qualify as a "sale" under the CCPA. You may opt out by visiting Google's opt-out page or using browser-based opt-out tools.
  • Right to non-discrimination: We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of your CCPA rights.

To make a verifiable consumer request, contact us at trevor@aicubetrainer.com. Only you, or someone legally authorized to act on your behalf, may make a verifiable consumer request. We will respond within 45 days.

12. Do Not Track Signals

Some browsers offer a "Do Not Track" (DNT) feature that sends a signal to websites requesting that your browsing activity not be tracked. Because there is currently no uniform standard for how websites should respond to DNT signals, this site does not currently alter its data practices in response to DNT signals. However, you can opt out of interest-based advertising through the opt-out mechanisms described in this policy.

13. Security

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information. This site is served exclusively over HTTPS (TLS encryption), which protects data in transit between your browser and our servers. Our hosting provider (Cloudflare Pages) provides additional security measures including DDoS protection and access controls.

However, no method of transmission over the internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.

14. Links to Other Websites

Our site contains links to third-party websites (for example, links within articles to cube retailers or WCA resources). These are provided for informational purposes. Once you leave our site via such a link, this privacy policy no longer applies. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those third-party sites and encourage you to review their privacy policies before providing any personal information.

15. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, legal requirements, or for other operational reasons. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. For significant changes, we may also post a notice on the site homepage for a reasonable period.

Your continued use of the site after the revised policy is posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated terms. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.

16. Contact Us

If you have questions or concerns about this Privacy Policy, or if you wish to exercise any of the rights described above, please contact us:

We will respond to all privacy-related inquiries within 30 days.
